Dodridge Street Bridge Replacement

Managed by the Franklin County Engineer's Office

Location: Over the Olentangy River, east of Olentangy River Road.

Description: Demolition of the current bridge, built in 1967, and the construction of a new triple-span, arched, concrete girder structure. Architectural enhancements include decorative railing and street lighting, and a pier-free river span. Architectural Rendering (PDF)

The Olentangy Trail and embankment retaining wall adjacent to the bridge will also be rebuilt.

Status: Bridge abutment, pier, and wing-wall construction is under way.  

Traffic: The Dodridge Street Bridge and Olentangy Trail beneath the bridge are closed to all traffic and pedestrians.

The posted detour route for eastbound motorists on Ackerman Road/Dodridge Street follows Olentangy River Road south to Lane Avenue, east to Neil Avenue, and north to Dodridge Street. Westbound traffic follows the detour route in the opposite direction. Dodridge Street Bridge Detour Map (PDF)

The posted detour route for southbound pedestrians and bicyclists on the Olentangy Trail follows the driveway of The Ohio State University Wilma H. Schiermeier Wetland Research Park south to Dodridge Street, west to the path on the west side of Olentangy River Road, south to Lane Avenue, and east to the trail. Northbound trail-users follow the detour route in the opposite direction. Olentangy Trail Detour Map (PDF)
